Gear List

 

Race Gear

 Mandatory Team Gear – to be carried at all times

-writing utensil

-compass

-cell phone, preferably in a dry bag or several ziplocks

-First Aid Kit – to include at a minimum 4 bandaids, pain reliever, and an Ace wrap

-Waterproof map case - major race maps will be waterproof, but some secondary maps and instructions will be printed on heavy stock paper

Mandatory Individual Gear – to be carried at all times

-whistle

-means to carry at least 50oz of liquid


Mandatory Individual Biking Gear

-flashing red tail light

-bike helmet

-mountain bike - required* for the 10 hour race, any bike type can be used for the 4 hour race

*we recognize that the use of cyclocross bikes is becoming increasingly popular, but we feel that they do provide an advantage on the road portions of the course.  Therefore, for the 10 hour race, they will be allowed, but there will be a penalty.  Any team that has a cyclocross bike in its armamentarium will incur a 15 minute time penalty.  In addition, that team will be penalized 1 check point per bike in the corral.  For example, if two members on a four person team utilize cyclocross bikes, that team will incur a 15 minute time penalty and lose 2 check points from their final tally.  

Mandatory Paddling Gear

Canoes, PFDs, and paddles will be provided. If teams choose to use their own paddles/PFD’s, race management will transport the gear to/from the canoe section.


Recommended Gear

-long pants/long sleeve shirt 

-dry bag

-Bug spray

-sun screen, sunglasses

-waterproof map case

-bike pump or CO2 system

-bike patch/repair kits

Prohibited Items

-GPS

-Fire arms

-Communication devices

-Motorized means of transport

-Road/tri bikes prohibited for 12 hr only
